The college with its various research departments awarding M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degrees, Internal Assessment Examinations, compulsory Value Based and Environmental Education to all III year UG students, etc. has elevated its status on par with that of an University.

The Tamilnadu Government has implemented a compulsory Computer Literacy Programme (CLP) from 1999-2000 onwards for the benefit of all non-computer UG students, so that the entire student community passing out of this college after graduation is in a position to join the main stream of the present day competitive and challenging computer world.

The college has a Placement Cell, Youth Red Cross Society, Fine Arts Club, Women’s Empowerment Cell and Career Guidance and Counselling Centre besides Four Wings of NCC and Five Units of NSS.
